HST 378 - Comparative Slave Systems

The trans-Atlantic slave trade and slavery in the Americas from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century. Emphasis on the beginning and development of the trans-Atlantic slave trade; moral issues, economics, and tactics of the trade; and comparisons of the slave societies of Brazil, the Caribbean, and the United States.
