MUS 342 - African-American Music History I

Requirements: Prerequisite: Music majors only
A survey of African-American music from its African origins to 1940. The course introduces the student to the vast and rich expanses of black musical culture from a stylistic, cultural, and socio-historical perspective, with a focus on jazz. Cross-listed with BLS 242
