Admission to the program requires possession of an appropriate bachelor’s degree, as well as passing the MTEL Communication and Literacy Skills and the content/subject tests. No grade less than a B- will be accepted in courses required for the post-baccalaureate certification program.
All students seeking an Initial teaching license must pass the MTELs and interview with the Director of Teacher Licensure in order to student teach. Additionally, students must apply to the Graduate Office before their Practicum/Practicum Equivalent (student teaching). All MTEL scores must be submitted along with their application. Please plan ahead in order to complete the tests and have test scores processed before the interview deadline with the licensure officer.
The deadlines for interview with the licensure officer for the Teaching Practicum or Practicum Equivalent are March 1st for the fall semester and October 1st for the spring semester.
