Students may declare a Portuguese Major at any time during their academic career, including at the time of admission to the university as an incoming freshman or transfer student. It is possible for students to start Portuguese at UMass Dartmouth and become majors by taking intensive language courses. Majors are required to complete a minimum of 33 credits of Portuguese course work at the 300 and 400 level, one of which must be at the 400 level. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 in Portuguese courses is required for graduation.
