A BS degree in Applied Statistics (MTHAS) is designed to educate and train students in the applications of data analysis and computational statistics. Students acquire in-depth knowledges and skills in statistical analyses and computing to work as an applied statistician in a variety of industries, government, or nonprofit agencies or for graduate studies.Students also gain effective communication skills for the presentation of analysis or results.
Students must complete the required Applied Statistics core courses including Math US-5A and 5B.
Also, students must take 9 credits of recommended Mathematics (MTH), Computer Information Science (CIS), or Data Science (DSC) electives.
All math, CIS, and DSC courses counting for the major must be completed with a C- or higher.
