Sociology Minor

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Colleges, Departments, and Programs

A student can request entrance to the minor program in sociology after completing at least 45 credits with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and with at least a 2.5 grade point average in his/her major. Requests must be approved by the Chair of the Sociology/Anthropology/Crime and Justice Studies Department.

It is possible to have both a major and a minor in the Department: eg major in Sociology, minor in Anthropology. Courses used to meet requirements for the minor may not be used to meet requirements of major.  Students with majors outside the College of Arts & Sciences may complete a minor without meeting the CAS Distribution requirements. Starting in Fall 2007, courses counting for the minor must be completed with a C- or higher. Contact: Prof. Andrea Klimt, 508-999-8831, aklimt@umassd.edu.
