ATR 273 - Introduction to Fibers

Studio / 6 hours per week
Introduction to the primary textile constructions of felting, knitting, and basketry. Beginning dyeing includes basic color theory and applied color mixing using acid dyes and fiber reactive dyes with shibori; blockprinting on fabric introduces repeat pattern design. . Drawing on the rich resources of world cultural traditions, students explore contemporary adaptations of processes and materials.
