IAD 306 - History of Architecture

Lecture
This course studies exemplary architecture of the Western civilization from the Renaissance to the 21st century. It focuses on architecture as an art form and traces the cultural, technical, and stylistic roots of architectural developments. Buildings are studied under sociopolitical pressure and historical events of the times. There is attention to architects whose work influenced significantly the direction of architecture. Notes: Workload per week: three hours of lecture and three hours of homework. Open to non-majors.
