Gerontology is the scientific study of aging, a process that may be examined from the perspective of many academic disciplines in basic science and applied fields. The field includes the study of the biological, psychological, social, and physical aspects of older adults, their families, and society.

The Aging and Health Program is an interdisciplinary program that is open to UMass Dartmouth students or members of the community, regardless of whether they are university degree candidates.

Students may use a concentration in Aging and Health as a key element in a self-designed multidisciplinary studies major program. See the description of multidisciplinary studies elsewhere in the catalog.
