Successful completion of the Integrative Biology Ph.D. degree requires:
1. Completion of the required course work
-
BIO 511 Professional Communication (3 credits)
-
2 credits of BIO 525 (Graduate Student Seminar)
-
BIO 530 Biological Statistics (4 credits)
-
One course from Molecular & Cellular Biology offerings (3 or 4 credits)
-
One course from Organismal & Developmental Biology offerings (3 or 4 credits)
-
One course from Evolution & Ecology offerings (3 or 4 credits)
-
One course in a cross-disciplinary topic from outside of the Biology department (3 or 4 credits)
-
Completion of 34 credits of doctoral research (BIO 699)

Formation of a dissertation committee
-
After completion of course work, students must pass a written qualifying exam in their field of research

Oral defense of a research proposal
-
Approval of a written research proposal by all members of the dissertation committee
-
Oral defense of an original dissertation and approval of the dissertation by all members of the dissertation committee
