NUR 503 - Transitions to Advanced Practice NursingCredits 3 Requirements: Prerequisite: Matriculated Grad StudentsLecture. Designed for Registered Nurses with bachelor degrees in areas other than nursing. The purpose of the course is to provide non-traditional students with a common knowledge base including the community perspective as a foundation for graduate study in nursing. Students examine realities of modern nursing practice; explore the philosophical, professional, and theoretical bases for nursing practice; reflect on professional practice in light of established standards; explore strategies aimed at promoting success in graduate education such as critical thinking and written communication; analyze issues and trends in the health care delivery system; and develop a population focus for nursing interventions that improve health outcomes consistent with Healthy People 2020. In addition, students examine professional values essential to advancing nursing practice. Graded
