ARH 332 - Emerging Practices in Media Arts

Requirements:
Prerequisite: ARH 200 or equivalent intermediate writing course (University Studies 1C)
Explores the intersection of artistic practice, activism, and emerging (and renascent) media technologies: digital video, social media, sound art, AR, VR, location-based (locative) media, and socially engaged art. Topics include: the media arts as tools for social transformation; virtual worlds and community identity; decentralized vs. centralized media; technology and the shaping of subjectivity; the transformation of language/art/design by the digital.
