MUS 242 - African-American Music

Prerequisites: MUS 107 or equivalent
A survey of African-American music from its African origins to the present. The course introduces the student to the vast and rich expanses of black musical culture from a stylistic, cultural, and socio-historical perspective, with a focus on jazz. Cross- listed as AAS 242.
