PHY 351 - Physics of the Environment I

3 credits
Prerequisites: A one year course in physics and MTH 101 or 131
A course applying scientific concepts and simple mathematical modeling (noncalculus) relating to sustainability issues. Major topics include green house gasses and global warming. Basic models for cycling of various substances in the biosphere will be studied. An overview of sustainable energy sources will be compared with energy consumption in the US and the world.
