POR 270 - Music and Cinema of Brazil (in English)

A panoramic view of the ethnically diverse Brazil through music and cinema. Topics fostering global awareness and artistic literacy include the international reception of Cinema Novo and post-Cinema Novo, as well as bossa nova, samba, Tropiclia and new fusions of world music. Social and historical perspectives on racial and regional diversity are explored. Materials and discussions are in English.
