PHL 322 - The British Empiricists Credits 3 Lecture / 3 hours per week Central philosophical issues, both historical and critical, in the writings of Locke, Berkeley, and Hume. Topics include a selection from: innate ideas; substances and essences, personal identity; abstract ideas; theory of language; perception; materialism and idealism; induction; causation; or skepticism. The course may also include some discussion of other early modern empiricists, such as Hobbes or Reid. Graded
