Faculty and Fields of Interest
Sustainability Faculty are from a variety of programs and departments on campus, giving students an interdisciplinary view of sustainability topics.
Some of the faculty teaching in Sustainability Studies include:
D. Steven White (Director, Sustainability Studies) (Charlton College of Business, Management and Marketing Department) services marketing, sustainable economic development, global business, international marketing
Marguerite Zarrillo (College of Engineering) traffic engineering, queuing, computer simulation and modeling of surface transportation, active galactic nuclei, radio astronomy, and astrophysics
Robert Darst (Department of Political Science) international politics, environmental politics
Spencer Ladd (College of Visual and Performing Arts, Department of Design) graphic design, typography, photography

Mission
The undergraduate Sustainability Studies Minor is a multidisciplinary approach in which students gain an understanding of the theory and practice of sustainability. This program looks to discover and examine humanity’s philosophies and practices, past and present, as they relate to the natural and social world, and consider what new or alternative philosophies and practices might be capable of providing a sustainable, balanced, and ethical future for the planet and its inhabitants.
