Economics Minor

A minor in economics may be elected by a student majoring in any other field. Any degree candidate who has earned at least 24 credits with a  minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0, may request admission to the minor. Before being admitted to the economics minor, the student must obtain approval of the Economics Department chairperson.

A minor must be completed at the time of the degree and will be so noted on the student’s transcript.  A student cannot be readmitted to the University to complete only a minor.

Requirements


Experiential learning in the form of ECO 320 Economics Internship may not be applied toward the minor. Students must have, at the time of graduation, an average of at least 2.5 in all courses taken in economics to qualify for the minor.

Additional Requirements


The remaining 12 credits must be selected from courses in economics numbered ECO 300 or higher, except ECO320 Economics Internship. Charlton College of Business majors completing a minor in economics may substitute POM 212 for three of these twelve ECO credits if their grade in POM 212 is C+ or better. Students using this substitution may not count ECO 332 as one of their Economics electives.
