PHL 335 - Hellenistic Philosophy

3 credits
Prerequisites: Semester course in Philosophy, or permission of the instructor
In-depth survey of the philosophies of stoicism, epicureanism, and skepticism, as they developed following the end of the “classical age” (323 BC) through the first century AD. These philosophies tend to be concerned with the individual person and how s/he may live well; related ethical themes, in addition to views about free will and the criterion of truth, may be explored.
