PSY 498 - Honors Proposal4 credits Prerequisites: PSY 101, 205, and a methods course (PSY210, 390,391,392,393, or 394), appropriate upper-level courses, and permission of Honors Thesis Advisor, chair of psychology Honors Committee, and department chairperson The first course in the two-course honors thesis sequence. Students meet weekly with their thesis advisors on an individual basis and weekly as an honors seminar group. During the seminar the honors faculty discuss with the students the general issues of developing a thesis and during the individual meetings with the faculty advisor individual issue and problems are discussed. The goal of this course is to develop a thesis proposal and complete the preparation necessary to conduct the thesis project during the next semester. In addition, the students are required to present the proposal to a committee of their honors adviser and two other committee members to receive a grade, as well as to satisfy the oral requirement for the course. The optimal time to take this course is the spring of junior year, but it may also be taken in the fall of senior year.
