WMS 310 - America’s Working Women3 credits C, D This course will examine the experience of American working women: black and white, native and immigrant, organized and unorganized from the colonial period to the present day. Because work is defined as productive labor, this course will examine women as paid and unpaid workers in the marketplace as well as in the home. Some of the areas of study will be women on the frontier, women in the mills and factories, labor union women, women in the professions, and the history and politics of housework. Cross-listed as HST 310.
