NUR 554 - Neuro-psychopharmacology & Biologically Based Treatment

Lecture
Exploration of advanced knowledge of current biological treatment modalities for psychiatric & mental health disorders in children, adolescents and adults. Students analyze biological theories that contribute to the development of psychiatric disorders & form the basis of pharmacological and other biologically based treatment modalities. Students are introduced to recent, as well as more established therapies. Students explore how individual factors such as culture, age, gender, physiology & environment impact response to biological treatments. Ethical & legal issues of biological treatment modalities are discussed.
